I have previously used your chemical structure based searching using the chemical drawing feature on my Mac computer. This no longer works and the error message I get says "The version number of the Java plugin is lower than 1.6. Current Marvin requires at least version 1.6." Since my mac has versions 1.6, I don't understand what the problem is. Can you tell me how I can fix the problem? Did you recently change your software? Thanks.
Most likely you are experiencing this problem because we upgraded the applet to the latest version but the upgrade on your computer is incomplete. There may be file conflicts in the Java cache with the old versions.
The problem is usually easy to solve. Please, follow this procedure to clear Java cache.
1) close all web browsers or applications which are using Java (Cyberduck, etc.)
2) clear Mac OS X Java cache:
a) go to Applications -> Utilities and open application "Java preferences.app";
b) select "Network" tab;
c) delete Java cached files (select all or just Molport files):
i) delete all Java cached files for all web pages with button "Delete Files" or
ii) delete only Molport Java cached files:
(1) click button "View Cache Files";
(2) in combo select "Resources";
(3) sort list by "URL";
(4) find records which start with "http://www.molport.com", select them
(5) click button with red cross (tooltip "Remove selected resources") to remove them;
3) close application "Java preferences.app";
4) start Safari or Firefox;
5) (optional) clear web browser cache, this will also delete cookies and other resources for all other web pages;
6) go to Molport structure drawing page and check if applet loads correctly.
If applet still does not load, check if you have latest Java version:
1) open console;
2) type java -version and press enter.
Latest version to date is 1.6.0_29, but as visible from screenshot applet is working also with older versions (1.6.0_24).
If java version is old, try update. After install, please, restart the computer for safety.
